What makes Cocovit different is that they do not cold-process/press the oil, ensuring it’s essential nutrients are not lost through the packaging of the product. Breaking Down Four of Chicago’s “Hot Spots”

Today, I’m partnering with Marc Jacobs and Glam to share with you a few “hot spots” in Chicago. No, we’re not talking about places where you can come up on some free wifi. This is all about the spots that provide the best of what Chicago has to offer.

Narrowing it down to four proved to be quite difficult, but I’m never one to back down from  a challenge. With that being said, here are four destinations that should be on everyone’s “to-do” list, locals and tourists alike.

Luxury Garage Sale

1658 N. Wells St

MJ hotspot7

I hate to use the term “one stop shop”, but there really is no better way to describe Luxury Garage Sale. High-end consignment, discount designer goods, and vintage accessories are all here for the picking. What used to be an eBay-only store is now one of the most immaculate shopping destinations in the city. I’ve spent many of days perusing the racks, which always ends with me trying to figure out what I can consign to help pay for the slew of things I want in the store. It’s a revolving door of fashion retail, and a well-organized one at that. Shop owners Brielle Buchberg and Lindsay Segal have a keen eye for statement pieces, which means the store is filled with the stuff ideal wardrobes are made of.

Not yet sold on how great this store is? Just follow their Instagram account. It will ultimately result in you jumping out of your pajamas one morning to rush down there and grab whatever it is before it’s gone (one of my readers actually did that recently for a Celine Nano crossbody bag). You’ve been warned.

Friday Find: Modern Screen Printed + Hand Dyed Accessories from Milkhaus Design

Friday Find showcases the item ChiTown Fashionista has become smitten with during the current week. Plus, what better way to start the weekend than with a bit of impulse shopping? It’s been a long week, you’ve earned it.

White Screen Printed Grid on Black Linen Fold Over Clutch with Adjustable and Removable Strap
Screen Printed Chartreuse Linen Pouch

DOSE market has been a regular part of my Sunday afternoon routine, once a month, for the past year and a half. And I can thank the market for introducing me to a number of brands and vendors that I’ve come to love. However, nothing has captivated me as much as the handmade accessories that designer Bethany Nelson creates. Nelson’s brand, Milkhaus Design, features original, eco-friendly accessories for women (i.e. clutches, totes and pouches) and the home (i.e. tea towels). The brand’s aesthetic is simple and classic, but it’s the functional nature of its pieces that gives them a modern edge.

I’m in love with the white screen printed grid on black linen fold over clutch with adjustable and removable strap (top photo), and I’m even more in love with the price ($74). It’s perfect for women who need a bag that can transform from a carry-all to a makeup bag when traveling, or  to a clutch for a night out. Another one on my gifting list is the screen printed chartreuse linen pouch with a price tag of $19. It comes in either the polka dot or grid designs, and in a variety of colors that are sure to make you stand out this Spring season. I think this pouch is perfect for women who need a little more organization — pack your makeup, wallet, pens and other miscellaneous items in this so you’re not digging forever trying to find those important items in your purse.

What’s special about Milkhaus Design? The handmade technique and texture of the linen causes slight variations in the print. And the variations are what make each piece unique; you can take pride in knowing that your accessory is a one-of-a-kind design.

If you’re digging Milkhaus Design as much as I am, the brand’s creator is offering a limited discount for buyers looking to purchase some of the latest pieces. Use the coupon code WAKEUPSUN to save 10% until April 21 in the Milkhaus Design shop.

Isn’t it great to know you don’t have to burn a hole in you pocket to get a one-of-the-kind piece?
