My first encounter with wood watches was several years ago, while shopping, er, covering a tradeshow. I was immediately intrigued and quite impressed. I even convinced my husband that we had to get one for his dad, who is an avid watch collector. On the flip side, I couldn’t see myself wearing one. They were a little too hefty and masculine for my personal taste. Fast forward to this year, when I was contacted by JORD to review one of their watches.
As I perused the site, I realized that I had finally found a brand that really gets it. Not only does their selection of wood (which includes Ebony, Sandalwood, Rosewood, Bamboo and Purpleheart) surpass what many of the other popular names in the wood watch industry offer, but JORD also incorporates elevated design elements like Swarovski crystal markers, Mother of Pearl faces, and rose gold hardware. Simply put, they are the ideal watch brand for those looking to merge sustainability with high style.
After much contemplation, I finally decided on the Purpleheart wood and Mother of Pearl edition of the Cora watch. It arrived in a cool wooden box and ended up looking even better in person. And since JORD offers the option of sizing the watch to fit your wrist (for a mere $10), no trips to the local jeweler or watch repair shop were needed.
Along with the perfect fit, it also fell right into place with my Fall wardrobe, which mainly consists of my new favorite neutrals: Navy blue and Pantone’s color of the year, Marsala (translation: burgundy).
If you’re currently searching for a unique gift for someone that seems to have everything or in the market for eco-friendly fashion accessories that don’t compromise on style, JORD is the way to go. In addition to the Cora series, I highly recommend the Dover and Delmar series. You can’t go wrong with any colorway.
Oh yes! Gift hunting for the holidays just got a little easier. Thank JORD for that.
