As I prepare for the arrival of baby MJ III, I’ve asked one of my favorite bloggers, Flavia Borges, to grace us with a few guest blog posts along the way.
Last week, Gilt Groupe offered an intimate breakfast for a selective group of Chicago bloggers and editors at Public Hotel’s Pump Room. When Nikia told me I’d be attending on her behalf I knew this would be a great opportunity to catch up on Fall trends from the women’s editorial director, Melissa Liebling-Goldberg.

Over coffee and delish muffins, Melissa discussed all that is in store for Gilt.com in the upcoming months, including Tuesday Trends, which will feature a new Fall trend each week (look out for those); a Hanky Panky Mega-sale (I’m intrigued); and the holiday season sales (party dressing is what I’m most looking forward to). In October, there will also be a semi-annual Bridal sale and a 50th anniversary blowout of Kenneth Jay Lane jewelry.
She also reported rich colors, whimsical prints, structured bags, exotic skin purses, and the “borrowed from the boys” look are very hot trends for the season. Exciting!
As the chatting progressed we all agreed how amazing it is that fashion is so accessible and democratic; we all share somewhat the same taste these days. What’s desirable here is also desirable in NY, LA and Texas. Crazy to think, but very cool!

Melissa left the best kept secret for the end when she advised us all to really use the wait list, as sold out items often come back – proof being the beautiful, wait listed Cynthia Rowley dress she wore that morning.
